The requirements for optical applications in injection molding can be divided mainly in following categories:
 
a) equal part properties when manufacturing identical molded parts in a multi cavity mold
(e.g. 32 cavity mold for the manufacturing of "mold cavities" of contact lenses with identical diopter)
 
b) equal part properties when manufacturing different molded parts in a multi cavity mold
(e.g. 32 cavity mold for the manufacturing of "mold cavities" of contact lenses with different diopters)
 
c) cycle time reduction as a result of automatic balancing of multi cavity molds
 
c) stress-free properties when manufacturing optical parts with injection compression molding

Examples:

a) Hotrunner balancing of multi cavity molds
b) Hotrunner control of each single cavity in multi cavity molds
c) Cycle time reduction due to balanced conditions (see a)
d) Real time control of the injection compression process by automatic detection of the melt front
